Second Nature Asia Pacific - Rainforest
Primary School (K/P-Yr 6) Programs

Our Primary School programs have been specifically developed for this age group, and for a variety of learning abilities. Through all of our program options available to Primary Schools, students will gain a basic understanding and awareness of the importance of rainforest ecosystems, via direct interaction with the natural environment (excursion) or through an interactive PPP with a variety of rainforest products/foods to pass around/ try (incursion). Learning objectives for Primary programs include:

  • Increasing awareness and knowledge on rainforests
  • Investigating the diversity of rainforest organisms
  • An introductory understanding on how rainforest systems work
  • Increase awareness of impacts of human activities on rainforests – both a global and local perspective
  • Increase awareness of impacts of human activities on rainforests – both a global and local perspective
  • An introduction to habitat destruction, overharvesting, introduction of invasive species, fragmentation and pollution
  • Provide and encourage sustainable behaviours that minimise these issues
  • To foster a connection to and raise stewardship of Australia’s rainforests
  • A introductory understanding of the complex processes involved in managing our rainforests in a sustainable manner

Secondary School (Yr 7-12) Programs

Our Secondary School programs have been developed for specific units of study within a variety of Secondary subjects (e.g. Biology, Geography, Science etc.) or tailored upon request. Through all of our program options available to Secondary Schools, students will gain a detailed understanding and awareness of the importance of rainforest ecosystems, via direct interaction with the natural environment (excursion) or through an interactive PPP with a variety of rainforest products/foods to pass around/ try (incursion).
