Day 1: Welcome to Vietnam
Depart accommodation and travel to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) via bus. Enjoy the peaceful view of the countryside along the way. Once settled into the accommodation, enjoy a traditional southern Vietnamese lunch and meet your Vietnamese tour leader. Visit the ‘Reunification Palace’, and have a tour through the Palace and the adjoining gardens. Settle into accommodation and walk to the Golden Dragon Water Puppetry Theatre for a traditional puppet show that will tell you many Vietnamese stories and fairy-tales that will broaden your understanding of the culture and traditions.
Day 2: Journey continues to Da Nang
Travel to the International Airport and fly to Da Nang. Travel from Da Nang to Hoj An town, taking in the amazing seaside journey while learning more about the coastal development issues. Once arrived in Hoj An, experience a delicious central Vietnamese lunch and settle into your accommodation. Go on a walking tour of Hoj An, spend the afternoon getting to know Hoj An, one of the most traditional and authentic shopping towns in Asia. Visit the Japanese Bridge, wonderful ancient trading houses and embroidery and silk-weaving workshops.
Day 3: See how a local family lives
Depart for Cua Dai Port to visit the amazing Cu Lao Cham islands. Visit Cham Island MPA visitor Centre and take a walking tour of Bai Lamp and Bai Huong village, which have been there for more than 3000 years. Get to know the locals and their culture. Explore by visiting pagodas, temples, archaeological relic or just wonder through these unchanged and traditional testaments of time. Travel around the main Cham Island on a tour via traditional fishing boat and view the coveted ‘Birds Nest’ caves , viewing traditional livelihoods of local fishers and the fascinating scenery. Stay overnight with a local family and get insight into their ways of living, traditions and culture up close and personal. This is a terrific opportunity to interact with the local people in a genuine way to learn more about various aspects of their lives.
Day 4: Have fun and contribute
Enjoy a nice morning swim in the South China Sea. Interact in a group discussion about issues facing these two communities. Return to Hoj An (via speed boat and road). Settle into accommodation and enjoy a nice local lunch. More leisure time in Hoj An.
Day 5: ‘Mecca’ for shopping
Depart accommodation for Da Nang International Airport to fly to HCMC (Tan Son Nhat International Airport). Transfer to accommodation, followed by lunch. Visit Ben Thanh market, the ‘Mecca’ of all tourists shopping. Afterwards, take a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) .
Day 6: Step back in time
Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple with a specialist Cu Chi and Cao Dai guide that will provide you with fascinating insight into religion, war and other interesting history on Vietnam. Return to HCMC in the afternoon where you can relax for the rest of the day.
Day 7: Explore Ho Chi Minh City
Full day of leisure time to explore HCMC. Optional guided walking tour.
Day 8: Popular museum experience!
Explore the ‘War Remnants Museum ‘the most popular museum in HCMC for foreigners. Optional guided tour through museum to provide you with insight into the displays featured there.
Day 9: Farewell!
Sadly it is time to pack up after a traditional breakfast at accommodation. Departure to Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Farewell to group by local and international guide.
